Your Transfer Credit Evaluation

The Office of the University Registrar has already been in contact with you and you should have received your transfer credit evaluation. Please review your evaluation carefully to understand the number of course credits you will receive as a transfer student.  In addition, you should work closely with your academic advisor and University Advising Head (UAH) for the major(s) and minor(s) they are considering to have your transcript/s evaluated for courses that may fulfill major or minor requirements. While the Office of the University Registrar determines how many credits can be transferred, the UAHs will review specific courses and syllabi to determine if they satisfy major or minor requirements.

General University Requirements

The evaluation will also indicate which general university requirements you have fulfilled and which you will need to complete in order to receive your degree from Brandeis. Some transfer students are required to take the University Writing Seminar (UWS) if they have not received transfer credit for this requirement. Since this is a first-year requirement at Brandeis, you will want to enroll in a UWS course in your first semester if you did not receive credit for it.

Final Grade Reports and Transcripts

Your transfer credit evaluation will be revised once the Office of the University Registrar receives your final grade reports/transcripts from your prior school(s). You may also be eligible for additional transfer credit if you have acceptable Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) examination scores.

If you will be claiming your exam scores for credit, it is important to note any Brandeis course equivalents. Should you enroll in the equivalent course, course credit for the examinations will be revoked.
