Mission Statement

A National Social and Giving Community

Brandeis National Committee and its local chapters support Brandeis University through philanthropy, learning and community.

The BNC shares the vision of the university's namesake, the late Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis, who once said of a great university: "The aim must be high and the vision broad; the goal seemingly attainable, but beyond immediate reach."

Again and again, the BNC has met challenging goals — carving a library out of a horse stable and filling its shelves with books, bringing the collection to over 1 million, funding an endowed chair for the university librarian and, more recently, accepting the challenge of supporting scientific research and scholarships. Local chapters, through events, social gatherings and community programs, join to support Brandeis University's commitment to scholarship, justice and innovation.

Mission Statement

The Brandeis National Committee is dedicated to providing philanthropic support to Brandeis University, a distinguished liberal arts and research university founded by the American Jewish community. Its membership is connected to the university through fundraising and activities that reflect the values on which the university was founded: academic excellence, social justice, nonsectarianism and service to the community.
