Educate and Advocate Grant Application

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until February 12, 2024 9:00 p.m. ET.

ENACT: The Educational Network for Active Civic Transformation is pleased to announce a grant opportunity for Brandeis University undergraduate students. Grants will support student-organized events that focus on educating our community and advocating for positive change on important current public policy issues, such as healthcare equity, reproductive justice, immigration reform, criminal justice, and voting rights. Proposals that value collaboration between student organizations, and/or between undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff are encouraged.

For example, "Make Your Vote Count: A Voting Rights Discussion," a student-created event funded by an ENACT Educate and Advocate Grant, will feature Aaron Scherb, Senior Director of Legislative Affairs for Common Cause; Marisol Santiago, Policy and Organizing Director for MassVOTE; and Prof. Zachary Albert of the Brandeis University Politics Department, and is cosponsored by ENACT, the VoteDeis Campus Coalition, the Brandeis University Student Union, Brandeis Democrats, and Brandeis University Young Americans for Liberty.

The ENACT Educate and Advocate Grants will provide up to $1,000 to support events planned for the 2023-24 academic year. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until 9:00 pm ET February 12, 2024. All funds must be used by June 1, 2024.

The selection committee encourages proposals to:

  • incorporate both academic and activist perspectives in meaningful ways
  • involve our campus as part of the event and be free to all members of the Brandeis community
  • include significant participation by Brandeis students, faculty, and/or staff; participation of invited off-campus guests and community organizations also is encouraged
  • value collaboration between student organizations, and/or between undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff
  • inform and/or link to ongoing initiatives that enable the proposed event to contribute to an enduring activist impact on our campus and/or in broader communities.
