Community Fellowship: Spanish Teaching at the Waltham Public Library

The Mandel Center for the Humanities, in partnership with the Waltham Public Library, announces a new Mandel Community Fellowship program for Summer 2024, open to Brandeis students, faculty, and staff. The Waltham Public Library seeks instructors for a six-week introductory Spanish course that will better prepare library staff to interact with native Spanish speakers who patron the library.

In addition to basic, conversational Spanish, the instructors will develop curricula that enable librarians to discuss genres like mystery, science-fiction, history, social studies and drama, with patrons of various ages and literacies. They will also help librarians learn  to ask young people if they need access to library resources such as homework help or meals.

The Mandel Center for the Humanities will offer a $750 stipend for these Mandel Community Fellowships. Please send letters of interest to Esha Senchaudhuri with a brief summary of your knowledge of Spanish and your background in teaching. You can send the letters to esenchaudhuri@brandeis.edu.
