Women in World Jazz presents an educational performance for the whole family featuring an international ensemble of all-female performers showcasing music from around the world. The concert features musical styles from Cuba’s cha cha to Cape Verde’s Coladeira as well as songs from Israel, Brazil and Japan, mixed in with jazz favorites. The ensemble’s goal is to give the audience a taste of different cultures from around the globe through the expression of music and dance. Each performer has an extensive background in music education and performance in the New England area.

Flutist Amir Milstein has established his career in the world music scene, recorded and performed worldwide.
Since 2002, he has been a faculty member at Hed College of Contemporary Music in Israel. He has also developed a music-education program for The Karev Educational Foundation, and currently presents workshops and clinics at schools, colleges, and universities across the United States and in Israel.
Since 2009, Milsten has taught World Music Ensemble, and Flute for Doublers, at New England Conservatory.
B.M., classical and jazz performance, Jerusalem Academy of Music. M.M., contemporary improvisation, with honors, New England Conservatory. Excellence in Performance Award nominee, Israeli Culture Ministry, 2003. NEC Entrepreneurial Grant, 2010.
