Confidential. Student-Centered. Here for You.

The Prevention, Advocacy & Resource Center (PARC) is a confidential resource for the Brandeis community. We provide education, support, and empowerment for anyone impacted by violence, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence, and stalking.

At PARC, we focus on both prevention and support -- working to create a safer, more compassionate campus for everyone.

Whether you have experienced harm, are supporting someone else, or want to get involved in building a culture of consent and care, PARC is here for you.

Prevention

We believe that all members of our community have a role to play in building a safer culture in which we look out for one another and receive support from each other. Our approach to prevention is grounded in bystander intervention, which centers the idea that we can use a variety of different approaches to prevent and interrupt harmful situations.

PARC offers a variety of workshops and trainings on topics related to bystander intervention, consent, and healthy relationships. While some prevention education programs are required of all Brandeis students, the majority of trainings our office provides are by request.

Support & Advocacy

PARC's confidential advocacy services are available to all undergraduate and graduate students. Students who benefit from PARC's advocacy services include those who:

  • have experienced sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking, and/or sexual harassment at any point in their lives

  • are not sure what language to put toward an experience they have had

  • are supporting a friend who has experienced sexual/relationship violence or are worried about a friend

PARC's advocacy services are based on a flexible model of support. Some students come to PARC for one meeting and others engage with our staff for ongoing support. Advocates in our office can assist with:

  • Non-judgmental emotional support
  • Developing coping strategies
  • Safety planning to stay physically and emotionally safer
  • Understanding reporting options (both on-campus and off-campus)
  • Identifying and connecting with additional resources
  • Accompaniment through legal or on-campus processes
