National branding campaign
May 17, 2023
Dear Brandeis Community Members,
This week, we have so much to celebrate, as we mark the end of another successful academic year, and send forth a new class of alumni during Commencement.
I’d like to let you know about something else exciting happening this week – the launch of a national branding campaign ahead of our 75th anniversary. I often reference Brandeis’ unique history as an institution founded by the American Jewish community at a time when quotas and other forms of discrimination were rampant in higher education. In a short time, Brandeis became a home for top faculty and students, known for excellence and academic rigor. As we look ahead to our 75th anniversary, I believe that we have a great opportunity to tell this story, and explain why our history is especially relevant in a world increasingly marked by antisemitism, and a lack of confidence in institutions of higher education more broadly.
The campaign will emphasize our founding values and distinctiveness. We worked with the advertising agency DeVito/Verdi on these ads, which is led by Brandeis alumnus Ellis Verdi ’77. The ads will appear in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, and The Wall Street Journal.
I invite you to read this BrandeisNow story for more information about the campaign, and to check The New York Times Magazine on Sunday the 21st for the first installment.
Sincerely,
Ron Liebowitz
