Move in 2024 at Brandeis

Move in day at Brandeis

Descriptive Transcript

The video begins with happy music and we see Brandeis volunteers and orientation leaders help students register. We hear the voice of a orientation leader and she says: “My name’s Katelynn. And we are doing first year move in for class of 2028 now. I’m having a lot of energy. I think all the parents are so sweet. I’m feeding off from good energy.”

As the music picks up, we see timelapses shots of campus. We hear another orientation student say: “This is my favorite part of the year. I love the energy that orientation brings and all the new faces. The Brandeis community is so welcoming. I also love how connected everybody is. You can always find someone that you know. So the community is just so wonderful and warm.”

We see more shots of people coming into campus and moving in and we hear Katelynn again: “The first official day of move in is just a day to welcome families on campus. We want families to feel as comfortable as I do here.” The other orientation leader comes back on frame and she says: “I remember my freshman year move in. I was really scared. I was nervous and so that’s what I want to do. I want to make everybody feel welcome. Like they’re at home here.” We then see shots of the light the night, and we hear a student on the microphone say: “Let’s light the night!”

The music and the video transitions to people moving boxes inside the dorms. We hear the voice of a student’s friend say: “We’re here today. Because one of my best friends are moving into her college dorm. It feels like we’re growing up very fast. I knew her since she was little.”

We then hear the voice of a student’s parent and he says: “I’m very proud, it’s a very new step in his life. Moving out from home, being on his own, and, hopefully meeting a lot of new people.” We then hear the student’s voice and he says: “Me and my dad, we like watching a lot of sci fi shows together. Yeah, I’m gonna miss that.”

We see more shots of orientation and of people helping students move boxes. We then hear the voice of a student and he says: “Whatever you do, don’t give up. It’s going to get hard. But never give up. If you need help, you can feel free to call me or my sister.” We see shots of students on campus talking with one another. We hear a the mother of a student speak, she says: “She is around us all the time. She’s so interactive. Will be missing her a lot, when she is not there. Be brave. Be the strong girl you are. I want you to be stronger and face the world.
