For the past 30 years, General Tutoring (GT) matches Brandeis University students with Waltham public school students (K–12) for free 1-on-1 tutoring in any academic subject on the Brandeis campus.
Mission Statement
General Tutoring strives to bring equitable and accessible supplemental education to the greater Waltham community. Working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds, we aim to provide individualized programming in an attempt to combat the gap in educational accessibility.
Program Overview
A group of full-time undergraduate student coordinators manually match tutees to Brandeis tutors. Matching can take up to 1–3 weeks from the point of submitting the Tutee Sign-Up Form.
Once matched, coordinators send an email with the tutee's contact information to the Brandeis tutor. Tutors must contact tutee's families within 48 hours of receiving the email.
Then, the tutor and tutee's family coordinate schedules to agree on a time that works for both of them to meet.
