Department of Student Rights and Community Standards

Highlighted Changes for the 2024-2025 Rights & Responsibilities

  • Appendix A: Notice of Nondiscrimination has been added to R&R for the 2024-2025 academic year and COVID 19 Policy information has been removed. You can still locate COVID-19 related information on the University website: https://www.brandeis.edu/covid-19/
  • Appendix D: Campus Use of Space Policy has been added to R&R for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Campus Use of Space Policy aims to provide additional clarity and the expansion of some existing policies, protocols, and practices pertaining to how space is used on campus as we maintain the safety and security of our community.  This policy sets out the rules and requirements for use of Brandeis University campus space, including campus protests.  Given the information detailed in this policy, relevant sections of R&R have been amended to help ensure there are clear expectations.
  • Section 18: Student Conduct Board hearings will be an available option to resolve a case if the case has potential to result in suspension or dismissal if found responsible for some or all of the alleged policy violations, for academic integrity related cases, or as deemed appropriate by the SSAO or designee. This change is to help ensure that we are able to provide timely resolutions for students who are engaged in the Student Conduct Process. All students continue to have Administrative Agreements and Administrative Hearings available as resolution options if/when going through a Student Conduct Process.
  • Section 17: Amnesty Policy: We have transitioned away from a more narrow definition of Medical Amnesty, and have included a broader Amnesty Policy this year.  This is done as the University seeks to remove any barriers to reporting issues/ behaviors.
