Brandeis Library Student Advisory Council

Purpose

The Brandeis University Library is committed to providing exceptional research services and resources to facilitate student success. We recognize the importance of student input on library services, space, resources, events, and policies. The Brandeis Library Student Advisory Council aims to facilitate a dialogue between students and library administration on library issues that impact the student body.

Membership & Meetings

The Brandeis Library Student Advisory Council has between 10-15 student members depending on the number of applications received. The membership of this Council includes representation from a broad cross-section of schools and years of study from both undergraduate and graduate levels. The group is co-chaired by the University Librarian, Matthew Sheehy and the Manager of Public Services, Mary Calo. 

Meetings are held twice per semester during the Fall and Spring academic terms. Meetings will generally be held in October, November, February, and March. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed. 

Fall 2024 Meeting Dates

  • Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Meeting dates for the Spring term will be scheduled closer to the start of that semester.

Food and drinks will be served at each meeting.

How do I join?

Applications are open for the 2024-2025 academic year. In selecting members, we aim for a Council that represents the diverse academic interests, experiences, and social identities of the Brandeis undergraduate and graduate populations, including those who have been underrepresented in higher education. Applications are due by Friday, September 20, 2024.
