The list below is a sampling of funding opportunities which may be relevant for experiential projects.
Awards for art works and essays on peace; travel grants for participation in a peace project or conference in the US or abroad; seed money for peace-related projects. The awards are coordinated by Peace, Conflict and Coexistence Studies.
Community Engaged Learning Fund
The Community Engaged Learning Committee is offering mini grants of up to $500- to support projects associated with credit- baring courses where students, faculty, or staff collaborate with partners in the greater Waltham community. Grants made possible through the Park Lodge Hotel Group. Contact: Lexi Kriss
Crown Center for Middle East Studies
The Crown Travel Grant covers research expenses such as travel, room and board, and photocopying. It may also be used to fund study at a foreign institution or cover tuition fees for a relevant Middle Eastern language program. It does not fund the purchase of durable equipment such as tape recorders, cameras, laptop computers, etc. Contact: Kristina Cherniahivsky
A grants program providing up to $500 for student or faculty initiated projects that address issues of identity, pluralism and unity in the Brandeis community. Contact: Elaine Wong

Eli Segal Citizen Leadership Fellowship
Funding of $3500 for juniors and seniors undertaking an unpaid summer internship in Boston or Washington, DC. Contact: Toni Schwarzenbach
Eunice M. Lebowitz Cohen Fellowship in Classics
Four fellows will work toward completion of a Classics research or creative project, in conjunction with a Classicist Faculty Mentor. Classics majors or in some cases minors are eligible. The fellowship stipend is $500 for research expenses. Contact: Heidi McAllister
Hadassah- Brandeis Institute
Each year, the HBI gives out between 20 and 30 Research Award grants to support academic and artistic projects about Jews and gender. Contact: Deborah Olins
Hiatt Career Center's World of Work Fellowship Program
Funds awarded on a competitive basis for unpaid internships. Different awards include theUniversal WOW, Social Justice WOW and Berkman WOW for Social Work. For more information go the WOW website or email hiattcenter@brandeis.edu.
Jane's Travel Grant for Latin American Research
Brandeis graduate and undergraduate students are invited to apply for travel grants to fund research in Latin America and the Caribbean. The maximum grant is $3,000 and grants vary in size, depending on the airfare, length of trip, and project budget. Contact: Adam Gamwell
Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts
As part of the Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts grants are awarded for student, staff or faculty initiated arts projects. Projects can represent any aspect of the creative arts, Theater, Dance, Poetry, Visual Arts, Music, Creative Writing, etc. Grant deadline is mid October, the Festival usually occurs in late April. Maurice J. and Fay B. Karpf Peace Award Prizes
The Karpf Peace Awards are given annually to students who wish to work toward coexistence and peaceful ways of addressing and resolving conflicts. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. Generally, about $2000 total is granted each year, with no single award exceeding $1,000. Usually awards range from $250 to $750. Contact: Gordon Fellman
Rapaporte Foundation Internship Grants
The Women's and Gender Studies program offers 5 stipends of $2,000 for students who undertake an otherwise unpaid summer internship at an organization or project which serves the interests of women, girls or gender equity. Contact: Shannon Hunt
Research Circle on Democracy an Cultural Pluralism
The Circle supports study and research focused on the implications of difference for liberal democracy. Students seeking a research assistantship need to talk to relevant faculty or send a resume and brief statement of their interests and particular skills (e.g., familiarity with SPSS, STATA or another statistical package, fluency in a foreign language for research, etc). Seniors doing an honors thesis on a topic related to the mission of the RC (see website) should look out for our RFP in late September, or have their honors supervisor contact the Research Circle. Brandeis University sophomores, juniors or seniors, together with a faculty sponsor, apply to perform an innovative research or pedagogical project. Approximately $2,000 reimbursement for teaching/research expenses; faculty mentor receives a $500 stipend towards their own research. Contact: Meredith Monaghan
Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism
The Schuster Institute offers 15-20 paid Research Assistant positions that allow students to learn about and participate in hands- on investigative journalism with a social justice focus. Contact: Florence Graves
Schusterman Center Undergraduate Research Travel Grants
The Schusterman Undergraduate Travel Awards will fund undergraduate research projects connected with a senior project, departmental honors thesis, or independent research project. The awards will not fund trips to Israel for the purpose of language study. Contact: Rachel Litcofsky
Fellows receive a stipend of $4,000 (international) or $3,500 (domestic) to support a summer project anywhere in the world related to issues of international importance with an ethical dimension such as coexistence, human rights, international law, hunger relief, gender equity, education, global health, etc. Contact: Marci McPhee

Women's Studies Research Center Student- Scholar Partnership (SSP) Paid Internships
The WSRC Internship Program: Student-Scholar Partners (SSP), currently coordinated by Kristen Mullin, was launched in the spring of 1997 as a project of the Women’s Studies Program at Brandeis University. Today, the Program continues as an important component of the Women’s Studies Research Center (WSRC). This paid internship opportunity is designed to give undergraduate students a unique learning experience by allowing them to work side by side with a Scholar or faculty member in an interdisciplinary environment.
