Lawyer/author/filmmaker/teacher Herbert Beigel of Saddlebrooke, Ariz., published a new legal thriller, “The Justice Tapes,” which has received strong reviews. Herbert graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and also holds an M.F.A. in fiction writing from the University of Arizona, where he has taught film producing and screenwriting. He was a special attorney for the organized crime section of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he prosecuted public corruption and organized crime cases. He has been a trial lawyer in private practice for 42 years. He has also produced several films, including “Heavy” (1996) and “First Love, Last Rites” (1998), and he wrote and directed “Camp Stories” (1997). With his wife and partner, Kim Marie, he runs a film production company, Lightsway Productions, which is filming a documentary, “Scorched Earth.” Hadassah named Janice Weinman its new executive director and CEO. Previously, she was the president of Kids in Distressed Situations, a children’s charity. Janice has been a board member of the Hadassah Foundation and also served as Mount Sinai Hospital’s vice president for external affairs.
