David Hodes '77, Chair, Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Hodes Weill & Associates

David Hodes is a Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Hodes Weill & Associates, a leading global capital advisory firm focused on real estate, infrastructure and other real assets with offices in New York, Denver, London, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong.  He is member of the firm’s Operating Committee. Mr. Hodes has built a 40-year career in institutional real estate, advising many of the largest global real estate investment managers and institutional investors with regard to their businesses, investment programs and portfolios. 

Previously, Mr. Hodes co-headed the Real Estate Investments Group at Credit Suisse, where he and Doug Weill oversaw global real estate investment businesses that comprised over $40 billion of AUM on behalf of institutional and HNW party investors.  He has also managed business units at other companies including Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Morgan Stanley and The Yarmouth Group. 

Mr. Hodes has been a prominent writer and speaker at industry forums on institutional real estate throughout his career, including the Urban Land Institute, NCREIF, NAREIT, the NYU and the Columbia Real Estate Centers, INREV, ANREV and the Pension Real Estate Association, where he has also served on the Board.  He is a regular guest lecturer at Columbia University as well as at his alma mater, Brandeis University, where he co-chairs the Board of Overseers for the Brandeis International Business School.

Quazi Sadruzzaman, MSF '08, Director, Real Estate Program

Prior to joining Brandeis University, Quazi served as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Manulife Investment Management, where he was responsible for overseeing the performance and growth of real estate separate accounts. His $2.2B real estate portfolio included office and multifamily investments throughout the US. While at Manulife, he also helped successfully launch a publicly traded office REIT in Singapore with investments in the US market. Prior to joining Manulife Investment Management in 2015, he was with a New York based Investment Manager, Clarion Partners, where he worked in Acquisitions and Portfolio Management and helped manage over $1.5B in AUM with investments in retail, industrial, multifamily and office. Prior to his role at Clarion Partners, he was involved in acquisition, financing and asset management of opportunistic real estate investments across a broad array of markets, property types and capital structures at The Davis Companies. Throughout his career he was also involved with fundraising initiatives for real estate investment funds from the United States, the Middle East and Asia.

Quazi received a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Massachusetts and a Master of Science in Finance degree from Brandeis International Business school.

Shaw Lupton is an expert associate partner in McKinsey & Company’s Real Estate Practice. He brings to his work a career long passion for real estate spanning product management, portfolio analytics, capital markets, startup advisory, and the proptech ecosystem. Shaw works alongside clients to approach real estate innovation through a product lens, leveraging his deep industry ties and experience aligning cross-functional teams around the technology needs of real estate professionals.

Shaw earned an M.B.A., an M.A. in International Economics and Finance, and a B.A. cum laude in Economics from Brandeis University, where he has served as an adjunct professor in the International Business School since 2015. The author of dozens of thought leadership pieces on investment strategy, he has been featured as an expert source in business media including Bloomberg, CREtech, National Real Estate Investor, The New York Times, and Urban Land Magazine.

Stephen L. Rabinowitz is Co-Chair of the firm's Global Real Estate Practice. Brad Hamburger is the creator of the Food Safety Navigator, a process which manages risks for more than a hundred food and beverage companies. He is an expert in food safety and brand protection. Formerly a practicing attorney, Brad knows the risks and legal implications present in commercial transactions, and how to create the appropriate insurance solutions to protect client interests.

With over thirty years of experience in all facets of the insurance and risk management arena, Brad looks forward to solving any problem a client may encounter. Brad is the current President and has served on the Board of Directors for the not-for-profit agency, Step Up for Better Living, (SUBL) since 2002. Georg Muzicant ’02, MA ’03, Chief Executive Officer, Colliers

During his studies, Georg Muzicant completed several internships at firms such as Merril Lynch, Colliers, The Davis Companies and The Monitor Group. In 2005, he decided to move from Boston to Vienna and join his family's real estate company. Since 2007 he has been managing director of Colliers in Austria.

Based on his several years of experience in the Anglo-American real estate business, he focused on building a highly competitive development department for national and international projects. In recent years, the real estate market has become increasingly international and has changed significantly as a result. To meet the future challenges of an enlarged Europe, he has expanded Collier's services to become more specialized.

In addition, Georg Muzicant is executive partner of a private equity real estate business with assets under management of around 500 million euros.

Jonathan L. Mechanic is chairman of Fried Frank's Real Estate Department. He first joined the firm in 1978. He became a partner in 1987, when he rejoined the firm after serving for five years as general counsel and a managing director of HRO International Ltd., a real estate development organization responsible for the development of more than 2.5 million square feet of office space in Manhattan.

Jonathan has taught the real estate transactions course at Harvard Law School for more than ten years. He also lectures regularly for NYU Law School, the Real Estate Board of New York and the Practising Law Institute, and is a co-author of The Commercial Office Lease Handbook published by the American Bar Association.

Josh Zegen ’97, Co-founder, Madison Realty Capital

Josh Zegen co-founded Madison Realty Capital in 2004 and is responsible for overseeing the origination and structuring of all of MRC's investment activities, as well as raising institutional capital and portfolio management. Since MRC's inception, Mr. Zegen has closed real estate transactions totaling in excess of $24 billion. At the firm, Mr. Zegen serves on several investment committees related to both the debt and equity platforms. Prior to founding MRC, he founded and was president of Alpine Commercial Capital, a mortgage advisory firm that successfully closed over $500 million in real estate financings. Prior to forming Alpine, Mr. Zegen was an investment banker in Salomon Smith Barney's financial sponsors/private equity group where he focused on leveraged buyouts, equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions and private placement transactions. He is a co-founder and board member of The New York Private Equity Network ("NYPEN"). Mr. Zegen graduated cum laude from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
