The Last Transport: Motherhood, Family Stories and a Holocaust Inheritance
Undergraduate
Project Information
HBI Research Associate Rachel Munn is continuing work on a creative non-fiction book project consisting of a series of narrative poems about motherhood and the experiences of her extended family during the Holocaust. The book looks at how these stories are part of her family, and part of an evolving Holocaust Narrative. This project also includes a series of Historical Reflections that explain places or events referenced in the poems (such as the Łódź Ghetto). These reflections look at a facet of the Holocaust in more detail, and try to illuminate a wider history through these specific examples. Visual material is also incorporated into this work, including family and archival photographs and Nazi documents.Rachel Munn is looking for an intern to carry out library and internet research, and write up historical summaries. Additional tasks include researching and writing up a chronology of members of her family, reading translated letters and creating a visual map of locations/dates, as well as reading Rachel's poems.
