Handling Images

You’ve amassed hundreds of photos for your project. Now what? Data management includes managing image files, and with the correct digital tools, it’s possible to make your images searchable. You can attribute metadata (data about data!) to these images, including information like: subject, title, date, keywords, etc. — the same sort of details tied to books and articles stored in a library catalogue, or your personal Zotero/Endnote.

The best option is Tropy. This is a free software that let’s you ascribe metadata to every image file. It’s designed for archival use, so you will see fields like “box number”. You can customize the fields.
