Seattle resident Leanne Berge is the CEO of Community Health Plan of Washington, a 280,000-member Medicaid and Medicare health plan. She and husband Michael Jackson ’81, MA’83, have two children. Their daughter is pursuing an MPA at the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington; their son graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business with an MBA. Diane Botwick Greenlee keeps busy in retirement with various volunteer activities, including working at a local animal shelter and fostering puppies. Oldest daughter Ariel has two preschoolers, Charlie and Sarah, and youngest daughter Dana recently welcomed baby Lilly. Julian Hyman was named 2018 Keeper of the Flame by the Temple Emeth Brotherhood. Julian — who is first vice president at Temple Emeth, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts — works at Eastern Bank, selling bonds in its capital markets group. Mark E. Jacobs practices immigration law in Dallas. He reports he had a great time at reunion last year. Marta Kauffman took part in a “fireside chat” held at the Women in Entertainment Summit in Los Angeles in October. The annual event is dedicated to empowering women in the entertainment industry. Laura Kaufman is associate professor at Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. She provides care to ambulatory and homebound geriatric patients, and delivers lectures on geriatrics and evidence-based dentistry to dental students. She has received several local, national and international research awards. David Lubin says he is still not quite recovered from a late-2018 swing through Arizona, Nevada and California, which included attending the final game of the World Series, won by the visiting Boston Red Sox over the L.A. Dodgers. He’s currently planning to take a weeklong cruise that departs from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Miriam Ann Markowitz is executive director of the Developing Families Center, in Washington, D.C., which promotes the empowerment of low-income families. She’s also a faculty member in the George Mason University health administration program. Miriam lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with her husband, Stephen Shulman. Amy Ostrower is director of production finance at Platform One Media, a TV production company in Los Angeles. Previously, she was a production accountant on the feature film “Larry,” shot in Toronto for Amblin Partners/ DreamWorks. An eight-page article on Steve Saklad’s design process for the feature film “The Front Runner,” starring Hugh Jackman, appeared in Perspective, the Art Directors Guild magazine. Most recently, Steve has been designing an ABC drama series called “Grand Hotel,” which will premiere this year. He says “easily the best 20 minutes” of 2018 were spent midair with husband Paul, parasailing over the Alpine cliffs and waterfalls near Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. Lesley Sharp, a medical anthropologist at Barnard College, is the author of “Animal Ethos: The Morality of Human-Animal Encounters in Experimental Lab Science,” published in November by the University of California Press. After 20 years as a public-school special-education teacher, David Spraragen is a language arts instructor at the Yeshiva of Flatbush, in Brooklyn. He and his wife, Gabriela Rozanski, a Jewish educator, have three college-age children, and live in West Hempstead, New York. Dave Sternberg, P’20, is marking his 35th year working in plaintiff’s personal injury law. He and his wife, Diane, live in suburban Chicago. In November, they visited son Ethan ’20 while he was studying in the Galápagos. Son Josh, a Drake University graduate, is an analyst at a commercial real-estate brokerage firm. Eileen Schnall Winter reports with sadness the unexpected passing of her husband, Kenneth Winter, on Aug. 31 after a brief illness. After Brandeis, Ken earned a Master of Health Administration at St. Louis University and worked in health-care consulting. He also taught remedial math and algebra as an adjunct professor at a local county college. Ken and Eileen were married 38 years. He also leaves a daughter, Debra, and a son, Jeremy.
