Fueling Academic Innovation

It’s not just students who are excited by the new engineering program. Alumni and friends are making investments to help start and sustain the program.

Burt ’57 and Karin Meyers ’59 provided seed funding to get the program off the ground. A physician and an artist, respectively, they are passionate about the intersection of art and science. “Burt and I are delighted to support Brandeis’ unique spin on preparing a new generation of engineers to make a big impact on society,” says Karin.

The Brandeis National Committee recently launched a campaign to endow a professorship in engineering. In addition, Leith and Judy Baletin, who are active in the BNC’s Arizona chapter, created an undergraduate scholarship for future engineering students through their estate plan.

And Robert Mallet is funding a new teaching position for a lecturer with expertise in both engineering and business. “Engineers design solutions, but business leaders bring them to market,” explains Mallet. “I want to help the university bridge the gap and help students draw connections between the two disciplines.”

A great way for all alumni and friends to support the program is to make a gift to the Brandeis Engineering Fund. Learn more about the program or make a gift.
