Primary market data sources are seven surveys from four major consulting firms. These surveys represent the best available data reflecting the competitive market for talent. Brandeis also reviews specialty surveys such as the University Athletic Association Survey, Western Management’s College and Athletics Survey (D3) and the Association of Art Museum Directors Survey.

The Human Resources Department has complete lists of organizations in all salary surveys. A representative list follows:

• Babson College
• Bentley University
• Boston College, Boston University
• Harvard University
• MIT
• Northeastern University
• Regional institutions include Brown University, Dartmouth College and Yale University.

These surveys were chosen to provide a reasonable representation of competitive compensation levels at other organizations. Surveys were selected which include:

1. The relevant labor market for talent
2. Position descriptions that could be matched to those at Brandeis
