Text-Only Brandeis University Background Check Process

The following is a text-based representation of the previous flow chart.

The process begins with the offer stage. The offer stage process begins with a department identifying faculty or staff for an offer.

The route then leads to a verbal offer being extended to a candidate contingent on the completion of a background check (3-4 weeks ahead of start date).

From there, the route leads to a written offer sent to a candidate contingent on the completion of a background check (3-4 weeks ahead of the state date).

From there, the route leads to a candidate signing a written offer letter.

Here, the route enters the next overarching stage which is the request stage.

Within the request stage, Human Resources requests a background check with CSI.

The route then leads to the candidate being instructed to complete a background check authorization with CSI to begin the check process.

Here, the route enters the background check stage.

Within the background check stage, CSI runs a background check based on the position type (5-7 business days).

The route then leads to HR receiving a completed report that includes any red flags that may require attention.

From there, the route leads to HR reviewing the report for any flags.

Here, the route splits into two directions:

Route 1: Yes
  • HR will confidently review the issue. This may require legal counsel and outreach to the manager.
  • Continuation of yes route: Is the issue/flag resolved?
  • Continuation of yes route: Here the route splits into two directions:
    • Route 1: No
      • Continuation of no route: The candidate is not hired. The manager is notified. The candidate can appeal.
    • Route 2: Yes
      • Continuation of no route: The employee is hired in Workday.

or

Route 2: No

  • Continuation of no route: The employee is hired in Workday.
